Gigantamax versions of Pikachu, Eevee, and Meowth arrive in Max Raid Battles
Head to the Wild Area to face these powerful Pokémon in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.
May 12, 2020
Gigantamax versions of three beloved Pokémon will be appearing in Max Raid Battles in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Gigantamax Pikachu, Gigantamax Eevee, and Gigantamax Meowth will take turns appearing in the Wild Area over the next three weeks, giving players plenty of chances to track down these popular Pokémon and add them to their team.
Look for these Gigantamax Pokémon appearing in Pokémon Dens during the following dates:
- Gigantamax Pikachu: May 11, 2020 – May 18, 2020
- Gigantamax Eevee: May 18, 2020 – May 25, 2020
- Gigantamax Meowth: May 25, 2020 – June 2, 2020
Note: The periods above will not overlap. When one Pokémon’s period ends, the next Pokémon’s period will begin.
To challenge these Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle, you’ll need to connect your Nintendo Switch system to the internet. Then, whenever you see a pillar of light shining from a Pokémon Den in the Wild Area, you can walk up to the Pokémon Den and interact with it to start a Max Raid Battle with a Dynamax Pokémon. Usually, there’ll be an extremely small possibility a Gigantamax Pokémon will appear instead of a Dynamax Pokémon, but during an event, certain Gigantamax Pokémon are more likely to appear.
Both Gigantamax Pikachu and Gigantamax Eevee each were previously only available as a bonus to players who had a save file of Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! (respectively) on their Nintendo Switch system. Likewise, Gigantamax Meowth was only available via a Mystery Gift for players who began their Galar adventure shortly after the launch of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Now, everyone will have the opportunity to encounter these incredible Pokémon.
Be sure to read our Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Max Raid Battle Tips article for advice on how to topple these colossal opponents. Don’t wait, though—you won’t want to miss out on the chance to add these mighty Pokémon to your team!
