Earn Stardust, TMs, Pokémon reward encounters, and even avatar items inspired by Steven.

May 11, 2020

Did you make it to rank 10 in Pokémon GO‘s first season of the GO Battle League, Trainers? Well, you’ll get another chance to earn great rewards and prove you’re the best when the second season begins on May 11, 2020. Everyone will start Season 2 at a lower rank than they ended with in Season 1, so it’ll be a great time to make your debut if you didn’t play last season (check out our tips for getting started in the GO Battle League).

Players who reach rank 7 in Season 2 will earn Pikachu Libre-themed avatar items, and those who make it to rank 10 will also earn Steven-themed avatar items—plus a new Trainer pose that’ll let them show off their accomplishment. At the end of the season, players who finish rank 1 or higher will receive Stardust as a reward, and those who finish rank 4 or higher will also receive TMs and a Premium Battle Pass.

You’ll even have a chance to net cool Pokémon encounters as you rise in rank, starting at rank 1 with Steven’s partner, Metagross, and moving up to species you may not have in your collection, such as Stunfisk or Rufflet. For the real top-shelf Trainers, an exclusive Pikachu Libre awaits if you reach rank 10. And better yet, to earn a Pokémon reward encounter in Season 2, you won’t have to win as many battles of a five-match set as you did in Season 1, whether you use a Premium Battle Pass or not.

Just like in Season 1, players won’t need to walk to participate in the GO Battle League. There’ll also be a new league format alongside the traditional Master League in June—one in which players won’t be permitted to use Legendary or Mythical Pokémon. Check out the rotation of leagues featured in the GO Battle League (these dates are subject to change):

  • Great League: May 11 – June 1
  • Ultra League: June 1 – June 22
  • Master League: June 22 – July 6
  • All Leagues: July 6 – July 13

Aim for rank 10 in Season 2 of the GO Battle League, Trainers!
