Deerling Welcomes Autumn in Pokémon GO

Celebrate the changing seasons in Pokémon GO with themed 5 km Eggs, Berry-themed research, and Deerling’s Pokémon GO debut.

October 09, 2020

The cooler air and beautiful, rich tree colors have arrived to let us know autumn is here. And through October 12 at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7), Pokémon GO will be celebrating this transition of seasons with a cornucopia of themed activities and Pokémon.

Since autumn is the season of harvest, Berries are playing a central role in this three-day event. You can expect to find more Berries when you spin PokéStops. Berries will be twice as effective when you give them as treats to your Buddy Pokémon, and you’ll earn twice the usual Candy you normally would when catching a Pokémon that you’ve given a Pinap Berry to! There will also be Berry-themed Field Research during this event that you can complete to earn special rewards.

Pokémon also appear to be responding to the changing seasons. While you might not spot any wandering the map with a pumpkin spice latte, certain species of Pokémon will be appearing more frequently in the wild. Most notably, the adorable Deerling—known as the Season Pokémon—will be making its Pokémon GO debut. Additionally, you can expect to see more Oddish, Bayleef, Yanma, and Burmy (in its Plant Cloak form), among other Pokémon. Also, autumn-themed Pokémon will be hatching from 5 km Eggs!

And if you happen to be reading this from south of the equator, where spring has sprung instead, you’ll enjoy the same opportunities. So no matter where you’re enjoying this Pokémon GO event, don’t forget to pause for a moment to appreciate either the gourdgeous autumn landscape or the blooming flowers.
