More chances to battle and defeat Giovanni arrive with a new Team GO Rocket Special Research event starting January 1, 2020. Get going on these Special Research tasks in January, and when you complete them, you’ll have the chance to square off against Giovanni! If you’re able to defeat him, you can try to catch Shadow Moltres. That’s right, Trainers—Giovanni has turned a Legendary Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region into a Shadow Pokémon!
Remember to complete the new Special Research in January to battle Giovanni and catch Shadow Moltres!
