Those who’ve been following The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, coming to Nintendo Switch and Wii U on March 3rd, will know that discovery, exploration and adventure all play key roles in this next instalment in the series – and no one knows this better than The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma.
To put his survival know-how to the test, we sent Mr Aonuma out into the cold wintry wild on an important quest to seek out the Master Sword of Resurrection. Let’s see how he got on!
Mr Aonuma has dressed appropriately to explore this chilly new terrain. He’s even started surveying the kingdom to spot any potential points of interest – good thinking!
Time to get in some archery practice – and not a moment too soon, a Guardian is approaching! Felling one of these foes is no easy feat. Be careful, Mr Aonuma!
Even one Bokoblin can pose a serious threat if you’re ill-equipped for battle. Best to retreat and live to fight another day.
No matter how urgent the quest, it’s always worth taking a moment to appreciate the wildlife along the way.
You can’t explore on an empty stomach so be sure to forage for food as you go. Now, where’s the nearest campfire…?
Could it be? The legendary blade itself! You’d have to be pretty strong to part this sword from its pedestal. Are you up to the task, Mr Aonuma?
Mr Aonuma has earned himself a reward for his troubles. This odd-looking food sort of looks like a heart, don’t you think? Only one thing for it then!
Link (Archer)
Zelda
Guardian
Bokoblin
Did you spot some of these amiibo during Mr Aonuma’s adventure? These amiibo (sold separately) and others will be released alongside The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on March 3rd for Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
