Super Nintendo World, the world’s first theme park area based on the characters and worlds of Nintendo, is set to open in early 2021. The opening date will be announced soon. Super Nintendo World will feature Mario Kart and Yoshi-themed rides and attractions, as well as restaurants, shops and other experiences that can only be found at Universal Studios Japan. The colorful and interactive area also offers a new theme park experience that lets guests immerse themselves in the world by wearing a special wristband called a Power Up Band. Using the wristband, guests can jump, hit blocks, collect virtual coins and items, and more to bring the experience of playing Super Mario games to the real world.
Ahead of the opening of the long-awaited new area, the world’s first Mario Café & Store will open in the Hollywood Area of Universal Studios Japan. When it opens on Oct. 16, the new café and store will feature exclusive themed food and merchandise in an immersive and authentic atmosphere.
The exterior of the café and store will feature oversized Mario and Luigi hat sculptures, as well as the iconic red and green color scheme from the Mushroom Kingdom. The interior will include checkered floors based on the iconic Mario Kart racing flags, LED signs and a luminous sky ceiling.

Guests will be able to order from a themed menu in this stylish café full of Mario charm. They will be able to enjoy delicious Super Mario pancake sandwiches and cream sodas, or drink their favorite beverage inside a Super Mushroom Souvenir Bottle.
* A full lineup of Mario merchandise featuring original designs from Universal Studios Japan!
Located next to the café, the shop will offer merchandise with original Universal Studios Japan designs that feature characters including Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach. Guests will be able to accessorize and show off their iconic Mario looks! Stylish pouches, smartphone cases, key chains and more will be available in the store.

Universal Studios Japan held an opening ceremony and press preview of the new Mario Café & Store located in the park’s Hollywood area before its grand opening on October 16, 2020.
At around 9:00am this morning, an opening ceremony for the new Mario Café & Store kicked off with a special appearance by Mario and Luigi. They greeted Super Mario fans and encouraged them to jump in Mario’s iconic pose while cheering “Here we go” and “Mario Café & Store is now open!”. Festive confetti in the bros.’ iconic red and green colors burst into the sky to celebrate this momentous occasion.
The Mario Café & Store offers our guests exclusive themed food and merchandise in an immersive and authentic atmosphere. The exterior of the cafe and store features oversized Mario and Luigi cap sculptures and the interior includes checkered floors based on the iconic Mario Kart racing flags, LED signs and a luminous sky ceiling.

Fans got an early taste of exclusive themed food and drinks in the fashionable café.
Universal Studios Japan unveiled themed food including fruit cream sodas and pancake sandwiches inspired by the signature caps worn by Mario and Luigi. Guests of all ages enjoyed the food, refreshments and photo opportunities and were delighted to see iconic designs on stylish shirts, hats and the Super Mushroom Souvenir Bottle as they shopped in the store next door.
Super Nintendo World Previews for Annual Passholders and Corporate Partners
Universal Studios Japan and select partners will be launching promotions offering Annual Passholders and guests the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive advance preview of the Super Nintendo World before it opens in early 2021. Details will be announced soon.

Since Universal Studios Japan’s opening on March 31, 2001, the park has continued to evolve with new amazing attractions and blockbuster entertainment. 2021 will mark the 20th anniversary of Universal Studios Japan which will be a celebratory year filled with limitless fun and epic adventures.
Universal Studios Japan will deliver a variety of “NO LIMIT!” entertainment and invigorating experiences throughout the festive year where guests will “Get Energized with Endless Thrills and Excitement”. It will kick off its year-long 20th anniversary celebration with the opening of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD in early 2021, where guests can experience “Asobi.”
