Pokémon GO’s January Community Day Features Machop and Payback

Catch loads of Machop, evolve Machoke into a Machamp that knows a special move, and enjoy other superpowered bonuses.

January 13, 2021

You’d better toughen up for Pokémon GO‘s January Community Day, because Machop is going to be flexing its muscles on Saturday, January 16, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. During the event, Machop will appear more frequently in the wild. If you’re lucky, you might even encounter a Shiny Machop! And if you evolve Machoke (Machop’s first Evolution) during the event or up to two hours afterward, you’ll get a Machamp that knows a move it can’t normally learn: Payback!

Additional bonuses will be available on Machop Community Day to help you flex your skills even further. Incense activated during the event will last for three hours, and you’ll earn three times as much Stardust for catching Pokémon. While you’re at it, make sure to take a few snapshots during Community Day hours—you just might discover a surprise!

A Special Research story—Straight to the Top, Machop!—will be available in the in-app shop for US$1 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). However, if you purchase a ticket to the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto event before 11:59 p.m. PST (GMT −8) on January 13, 2021, you’ll receive a free ticket for January’s Special Research story—as well as for next month’s Community Day Special Research story too, coming February 7, 2021. There will also be a Machop Community Day Box available in the in-app shop to help you make the most of the Superpower Pokémon’s special day.

Have fun searching for Machop on Community Day, Trainers!
