Pokémon GO Updates: Open Access to the GO Battle League, Special Store Bundles, the All-New Today View, and More
Get the scoop about Pokémon GO’s recent updates and how they can help you get the most out of your game.
April 02, 2020
Recently, Pokémon GO has received a number of updates to help players keep having fun playing in individual settings. Adjustments have been made to the GO Battle League and Trainer Battles, and rewards for Daily Bonuses have been increased. The Gift system has been altered a bit, and you will now find special 1 PokéCoin bundles in the shop. The number and frequency of changes might seem high, but the adjustments should be great for Trainers everywhere. So we’ve compiled all the updates here to bring you up to speed on the current state of the game.
The GO Battle League and Friend Battles
For a limited time, the requirements for the GO Battle League and Trainer Battles with friends have been altered. From now until Monday, April 13, 2020, the walking and PokéCoin requirements to unlock sets of battles in the GO Battle League have been removed.
Likewise, from now until Friday, May 1, 2020, the Friendship level requirement for Trainer Battles with friends has been lowered. You can now send battle invites to Trainers who are your Good Friends or Great Friends the same as you can to your Ultra Friends and Best Friends.
Catch Bonuses and Rewards
Players will now earn three times the usual Stardust and XP for the first Pokémon caught each day, and you can activate a Star Piece and a Lucky Egg to increase your rewards even more. Plus, you can now carry up to 20 Gifts in your inventory and open up to 30 Gifts each day. Gifts now contain more Poké Balls, which should help you stock up.
In-Game Shop Deals
Another great way to stock up on goods is to take advantage of the 1 PokéCoin bundles in the shop. Each week, the shop will stock a new special, one-time purchase of handy items for the cost of 1 PokéCoin. Each week’s bundle is only available until the next week begins, though, so if you want what’s on offer, be sure to get it while you still can. One previous 1 PokéCoin bundle included 30 Incense, and another had 100 Poké Balls, so check back each week to see what new items are available.
The Today View
It’s now easier to keep track of Pokémon GO’s ongoing events, bonuses, and more with the new Today View feature. Found in the same area as your Field Research and Special Research tabs, the Today View has sections devoted to events that are currently running in the game as well as upcoming events, a list of Pokémon you currently have in Gyms, and your Daily PokéStop Spin and Daily Pokémon Catch Streaks.
Of course, all mentioned dates and feature adjustments are subject to change. Check Pokemon.com for future updates, and for additional information, visit Niantic’s official Pokémon GO blog.
