Just over three weeks ago, Skylanders® SuperChargers arrived to fans all over the world. Building upon the toys-to-life category pioneered by Skylanders, SuperChargers introduced a completely new gameplay experience with the addition of vehicles. And the fans have spoken: the release of NPD news today reinforces that Skylanders remains the #1 kids’ console videogame franchise worldwide.¹ What’s more, today’s announcement also confirmed that Skylanders is now the 12th best-selling video game franchise of all time.2
With a variety of race cars, motorcycles, boats, tanks, helicopters, jets, submarines, and more, Skylanders SuperChargers has given fans an opportunity to take to the land, sea, and sky though high-octane races, exploration, and combat across the Skylanders universe. What’s more, Skylanders SuperChargers marked the series’ first-ever collaboration with Nintendo to bring Turbo Charge Donkey Kong and Hammer Slam Bowser as guest stars for players on Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS.
“We pioneered the toys-to-life category and have continued to lead it by bringing new innovations within a fantastic videogame to our fans, said Josh Taub, senior vice president of Product Marketing for Activision Publishing, Inc. “We’re incredibly proud that Portal Masters have made Skylanders the #1 kids console video game franchise globally since launch in 2011.”¹
