The Swindle Breaks Into Consoles This Year
We’re bringing Dan Marshall’s Steampunk Cybercrime Caper, The Swindle, to Wii U this year!
February 12, 2015
The Swindle is a mix of stealth and platforming gameplay, with some roguelike and RPG elements thrown in. You’ll be breaking into buildings, hacking their systems, stealing cash and then making your escape to the sound of the shattering glass and alarm bells. Between levels, you’ll be able to upgrade your thief with new skills and tools at your airship HQ, allowing you to take on bigger buildings with more elaborate security.
Dan first announced The Swindle way back in 2011, but cancelled it after being unable to make the games various mechanics work together in an enjoyable way. Fast forward a few years, and The Swindle is back, with brand new mechanics and a focus on procedural generated levels and thieves. Dan announced the new version way back in October, and we’re happy to announce today that we’re working directly with Dan to bring the game to all the usual formats on console.
Dan describes it as a mix between Deus Ex and Spelunky, and we fell in love with the concept the moment we saw it. Stealth based platforming is obviously pretty close to our hearts here at Curve, and Dan’s game has a ton of personality, beautiful art and music and clever mechanics inspired by everything from Syndicate to XCOM.
