Hi there, Tom at Nintendo here. Part camp director, part Mario Kart enthusiast.
Starting today a software update is available for Mario Kart 8 for Wii U that will add a shop feature in the game where you can download three free Mercedes-Benz karts. This include their new GLA, 300 SL Roadster from the 1950s and the legendary Silver Arrow from the 1930s. You might see me out on the online racetracks on the Silver Arrow.
With this update, you’ll also have the option to advance purchase two new downloadable content packs that will launch this fall and next spring. Each pack has tons of new content, including new racers like Link from The Legend of Zelda series and Isabelle and Villager from the Animal Crossing series.
If you advance purchase both packs, you will immediately be able to race as eight new colors of Yoshi and Shy Guy.
To commemorate the occasion a few of us in the office gathered around for a fun race around Toad Harbor. Check it out to see who won!
